Three New Beauties from 365 Days of Color's Hocus Pocus Collection

Today I have 3 polishes to show you from one of my favorite indie brands- 365 Days of Color. I'm so excited to show you these today for two reasons. First of all, they are gorgeous! Second, the release of the Hocus Pocus Halloween collection reminds me that my favorite holiday is approaching!
The polish to the right is "Boouk", three coats are shown. This is a lovely neutral toned polish with different shapes of copper-toned glitter. This one is SO unique! Very different, yet delicate and feminine.
The center polish is "Black Flame Candle", also three coats. This is a black polish with a buildable jelly finish. What makes it special is the micro-shimmer interspersed throughout.. it catches the light in different ways and sparkles in silver or green or purple. Gorgeous! If you love black nail polishes like I do, this is a must have due to its depth and dimension.
Last but not least, all the way to the right is "I Smell.. Children!" Shown is one coat over black. You can achieve the same look by doing a few coats of it by itself, but why waste this stunning polish? Putting it over black is an easy way to stretch it out. This shade features beautiful purple glitter and shimmer in a dark base. Vampy yet elegant, this is perfect for Fall. Once again, a lovely collection from 365 Days of Color. I'm not shocked, as she has not yet released a collection I didn't like. But.. I'll tell you a secret.. this one is my favorite!
You can check out the full collection at her shop, 365daysofcolor.bigcartel.com ..
What do you think of these spooky colors? Happy Halloween!

Artsy Wednesday: Lacy Nails!

This week's Artsy Wednesday challenge was to create a manicure with a lace motif. I created my manicure by painting a base of Barielle Swizzle Stix, then adding a little rounded lace corner using a white Migi Nail Art pen. I then added detail to the white "blob" using a black Kiss nail art pen. I finished it off with tiny dots using the black and white pens. I think this is a really pretty, feminine look. Do you like it? Be sure to check out the lacy manicures from the other ladies participating in Artsy Wednesday.

Technology Meets Fashion with HP + Project Runway's Laptop Bag Design Challenge

image: hp.com

These days, Fashion and Technology influence each other in a myriad of ways. Technology has propelled fashion forward -with designers using computers to create patterns and designs, and broadcasting their runway shows to millions over the internet. Everything happens faster now, with trends appearing a mile a minute thanks to the instantaneous flow of information all over the world. Perhaps the greatest product of this is that through the internet, any aspiring designer can get their designs out to the world.
Fashion also informs technology as design becomes a more and more important factor for consumers purchasing smartphones, laptops, and other devices. Then, of course, are the technology accessories! From phone cases to laptop bags, tech accessories are now just as in-demand and need to be just as stylish as the rest of our accessories.
HP is hosting a great contest with Project Runway based on that concept- inviting amateur designers to design stylish, on-trend laptop bags. A panel of design experts (including Project Runway Season 's Mondo Guerra) have narrowed the entries down to 40 semi-finalists, and now the public voting has begun! You can check out the designs here and vote for your favorite. The winner will receive 10,000 dollars and a career breakthrough.. wouldn't it be great to help an aspiring designer realize their dream? Be sure to vote!
How do Fashion and Technology meet in your life?

Artsy Wednesday: Neon Nail Art!

For this week's Artsy Wednesday post, the challenge was to create a neon manicure. I did a simple manicure, drawing black triangles on a base of Color Club Jackie Oh! While it was easy to do, I love the look! It reminds me of the Flintstones :)
What do you think of this look? Also, thanks to my younger sister Devin for taking this cool picture with her awesome camera!

Review: Living Proof f̶r̶i̶z̶z̶ Hair Care System

Recently I had the opportunity to try out the Living Proof Frizz (pronounced: "no frizz") hair care system. Made with a patented humidity-repelling molecule instead of the traditional silicone and oils usually used in anti-frizz hair products, this system is meant to block out humidity before it can wreak frizzy havoc on your hair.
I tried out the shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner, using all three in conjunction each time I washed my hair. I was honestly blown away by the results! The Frizz system really did leave my hair much smoother and less "poofy" than usual, but without weighing it down or making it greasy. I used to dread the first day after I washed my hair, as it would be very unmanageable. The Frizz leave-in conditioner is miraculous, I comb some into my towel-dried hair and my hair dries smooth and without the frizzy fly-aways that used to drive me nuts.
I definitely want to try out the styling cream and spray as well, as I had such good results with the shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in. I would certainly recommend this system if you're looking for a non-greasy way to tame your frizz.
Have you ever tried Living Proof Frizz?

The Digit-al Dozen: Blue Week Day 5: Rescue Beauty Lounge Aqua Lily Swatch and Review

Well, today is the last day of the Digit-al Dozen's Blue Week! I had to round out the week with my all time favorite blue polish- Rescue Beauty Lounge's Aqua Lily. This is an absolutely gorgeous, vibrant turquoise with a subtle pink shimmer throughout (it is much more apparent in real life than in pictures). I always get compliments when I wear this shade, it is so bright and lovely. The formula is perfection! This was a limited edition release from RBL, but it will be brought back in November one more time as part of an RBL "Bring it Back" release. I will certainly be buying a back-up bottle- I love this shade that much! What do you think of it? You can find out more at rescuebeauty.com

The Digit-al Dozen: Blue Week Day 4: Barielle Swizzle Stix Swatch and Review

If you are looking for the perfect sky blue polish, look no further than Barielle Swizzle Stix. Bright, cheerful, and on-trend, Swizzle Stix is a perfect way to incorporate a pop of color into your ensemble.
Creamy, opaque coverage in two coats.. this formula is perfect! No streaks or patches. I love how saturated this blue is. While I love a "dusty" polish, there is no muting of color here.. just bright, beautiful sky blue!
What do you think of Swizzle Stix? You can find this and many other lovely shades at Barielle.com

Artsy Wednesday: Galaxy Nails!

This weeks Artsy Wednesday challenge was to create a galaxy manicure. I actually have done a manicure like this before, right when I started blogging (you can see it here), but I was glad to give it another shot now that I'm a bit more experienced. I loved my first galaxy mani, but I definitely think this one is an improvement. I achieved the look by sponging various colors over a base of Wet n' Wild Black Creme. I added a couple dabs of glitter (Butter London Henley Regatta) for a bit of sparkle, and dotted on white stars.
Do you like how it turned out? Be sure to check out the galaxy manicures from the other ladies participating in Artsy Wednesday!

The Digit-al Dozen: Blue Week Day 2: Butter London Bluey and Henley Regatta

Hello and welcome to day two of Blue Week! Today I have a subtle glitter gradient to show you, done with two polishes that were made for each other! I painted my nails with a base coat of Butter London Bluey, a lovely metallic deep blue. Over this I added a gradient tip using Butter London Henley Regatta, a mix of blue and green micro glitter in a clear base. Henley Regatta matches Bluey quite closely, creating a really subtle and chic look. I love glitter gradients, and this combo is a winner! What do you think? The Digit-al Dozen: Blue Week Day 1: Essence Let's Get Lost

Hello all! Sorry for the lapse in posting, I've had a very very busy week, including starting a new job! As of today we should be back to the regular schedule, now that I've gotten into the swing of things and was able to queue up some posts in advance.
So, I am taking part in a fun nail challenge with a great group of bloggers called the Digit-al Dozen. Each month, we'll post nail looks for five days straight, with the looks centering around a theme. September's theme is simple- Blue!
I'm kicking off Blue Week with a simple blue polish, but one that I absolutely love!
This Essence "Let's Get Lost"- and it is pretty much the perfect blue polish! Vibrant, bright, gorgeous blue. The formula is excellent- opaque coverage in two coats. It is also SUPER affordable at about 2 dollars a bottle. Such a cheerful polish! What do you think of it?
Be sure to check out the blue manicures from the other ladies in the Digit-al Dozen, and keep an eye out for more blue manicures this week!:

Artsy Wednesday: Tribal Print Nail Art

This week's Artsy Wednesday challenge was to create a manicure inspired by a print or pattern. I decided to try to re-create the "tribal" motifs that have been so ubiquitous this Summer.
To create this look I started with a base of Essie Cocktail Bling, to which I added stripes and zig zags of Zoya Robyn and Arizona, Essence L.O.L, Essie Absolutely Shore, Sheswai F--- Yeah, Wet n' Wild Black Creme, Essie Brazilliant, and Rescue Beauty Lounge Poppy. I finished it off with black detailing using a Kiss Nail Art Pen.
I love how this mani turned out! Would you ever try a look like this?

Swarovski Splendor from Caroline Rocha

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a "USA Made" event in NYC, put on by The Accessories Council. As the name suggests, this was a showcase of designer accessories made in the USA.
There were so many gorgeous lines there, but one that really stood out to me was Caroline Rocha. Caroline has a line of beautiful bracelets, each one of a kind. The bracelets are 100% handmade in her California studio. She paints each one by hand before her team hand-sets dozens of Swarovski crystals to create unique pieces of wearable art.
The cuffs come in several widths and countless designs.. each unique. I was so impressed with these bracelets!
What do you think? You can find out more at CarolineRocha.com .
