Artsy Wednesday: Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Today for Artsy Wednesday the theme is Halloween manicures, of course! I recently participated in a 5 day Halloween nail art challenge, but thankfully I did not exhaust all of my manicure ideas! For today, I did a spooky silhouette scene with trees, a full moon, and a Halloween cat. I started off by painting my nails with China Glaze Immortal and then mattifying it with Butter London's Matte Finish Topcoat. I then added trees and a cat using Cult Nails Nevermore and a Kiss black nail art pen. I used Andrea's Choice Reverso for the moon, and Zoya Monica for the clouds. I think it came out cute, what do you think?

Artsy Wednesday: Cling Wrap Manicure

This week's Artsy Wednesday challenge was to create a "Cling wrap manicure". This look is achieved by sponging on polish using a balled-up piece of plastic cling wrap. I first painted my nails with Zoya Zuza, then sponged on Cult Nails Nevermore on top. Very simple and easy to do, and it didn't require as much cleanup as you might think. I really like the look.. sort of marble-like.

Gorgeous Sparkle with Illamasqua Creator Nail Varnish

I have a gorgeous nail polish to show you today- "Creator" from Illamasqua. You may remember that I posted a sneak preview of Illamasqua's "Generation Q" collection over the Summer (Check it out here). Creator is part of that collection, and it is a stunner! Creator is a deep black polish densely packed with silver glitter. The application was perfection! I expected some dragging and patchiness from a polish so full of glitter, but their was none! Two coats and I had totally opaque, beautiful coverage. Astonishingly, creator dries super smooth as well. This is the ultimate black polish.. very vampy, but with a real glam factor thanks to the silver sparkle. So glad to have this one in my collection, I know I'll wear it often. You can find this and more lovely Illamasqua nail varnishes at sephora.com/illamasqua. Stay tuned for my review later this week of a gorgeous eyeshadow palette, also from the Generation Q collection!

Artsy Wednesday: Seasons!

This week's Artsy Wednesday challenge was to create a manicure based on the current season. The bloggers participating in Artsy Wednesday live all over the world, but in my cozy corner of New England its Autumn right now!
In keeping with that theme, I've done a leaf motif. I started with a watercolor style base of Fall colors including Zoya Arizona, Rehka, and Illamasqua Alarm. I painted leaves with Zoya Blaze and Ziv and Andrea's Choice Reverso. I outlined them with a Kiss nail art pen in black. I'm happy with how these came out.. I think its a pretty manicure!

The Digit-al Dozen - Halloween Week! Day 5 - ZOMBIE Manicure!

Today is the last day of the Digit-al Dozen's Halloween week! All my nail art so far has been pretty cute, so I wanted to do something scary for the last day. Sadly, despite my attempt at zombies and blood and gore its still kind of cute. Oh well. I used Andrea's Choice Reverso as a base, a Kiss nail art pen for the black detail, and Zoya Tracie, Yara, Arizona, Monica and Rehka for the colors.
What do you think of my "scary" zombie manicure?

The Digit-al Dozen - Halloween Week! Day 4- Dia De Los Muertos Sugar Skull Manicure!

Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen's Halloween Week is upon us! Per the suggestion of my friend Nnenna (Check out her lovely blog http://starcrossedsmile.com/ !) I did a Dia de Los Muertos Sugar Skulls manicure! I used Color Club Jackie Oh! as a base, and added white skulls using Andrea's Choice Reverso. The black detail was done with a Kiss nail art pen, and the colored dots with Zoya Arizona, Traci, and Zuza.
I love this colorful manicure! What do you think? Be sure to check out the manicures from the other ladies in the Digit-al Dozen group of bloggers:

The Digit-al Dozen - Halloween Week Day 3 - Spiderweb Nails!

Time for the third Halloween manicure of the week! For this spiderweb manicure I painted my nails with a flat white (Reverso by Andrea's Choice), and then drew in the webs and the little spider using my trusty Kiss nail art pen in black. Really easy and fun to do!
Be sure to check out the Halloween manicures from the other ladies participating in the Digit-al Dozen!

Thank you so much for reading! Let me know if you have any suggestions for what I should do for the next Halloween manicure!

Digit-al Dozen Halloween Week Day 2: Jack-o-Lantern Nail Art!

Time for day 2 of the Digit-al Dozen's Halloween week! Today I went with Jack-o-Lantern nails! This is an easy design to do. I painted my nails with Zoya Arizona, then added a bit of sparkle with Northern Lights Holographic topcoat in Gold. I added the faces with a Kiss nail art pen, and a bit of green on the top with Zoya Yara. I added white accents with a Migi nail art pen, and some black outlining again using the Kiss nail art pen. Its a really simple, cute Halloween design that you can have fun with by customizing the faces however you like.

The Digit-al Dozen: Halloween Week - Ghost Nail Art!

Hi everyone! Hopefully you have the day off this Columbus Day and are relaxing a bit! You may remember the series of blue manicures I did last month as part of the monthly challenge with the Digit-al Dozen group of bloggers. Appropriately for October, this month's challenge is to create five Halloween manicures!
So, this week I'll be showing you five Halloween nail art looks I created. Hopefully they give you some ideas for your own holiday nail art!
I'm starting the week out week out with some spooky ghosts. I painted my nails with Cult Nails Nevermore which, by the way, is the most perfect one-coat black nail polish ever! You really only need one coat and it dries really glossy. Excellent formula. If you like black nail polish this one is certainly worth picking up. I then drew little ghosts with a white Migi Nail art pen, and then added their eyes and mouths with a black Kiss nail art pen. Very simple! What do you think of this mani?

An Autumn Look with Pixi Beauty and Pop Beauty!

I have two fun products to show you today- Blush Beam from Pop Beauty and Lip & Line from Pixi Beauty. Blush Beam is a multi-tonal cheek product with some nice shimmer. I have very pale skin and it really showed up on my face more like an illuminator than a blush (This shade is Bare Beam). Not a ton of pigment, but still pretty! I would certainly layer it over another blush in the future though.
Lip & Line is a cool product, it solves the problem of trying to find a lip liner that matches your lipstick. It features two different lip products (This shade is called Bare Berry), one in a more waxy liner format, and one in a creamier lipstick form. The shades, however, are identical as you can see in the swatches above. I usually don't line my lips but this matching liner and lipstick makes it easy to do. Below is a simple look I did with the Lip & Line as well as the Blush Beam.. plus simple cat eye eyeliner.
I'll definitely be using both products in the future, but with the Blush Beam as a highlighter. I received both products as part of the Bloom.com Ambassador program, and I'll be showing you the rest of the products I got in the box over the rest of the month.
What do you think of these goodies from Pop Beauty and Pixi Beauty?

Artsy Wednesday: My Favorite Brand - Zoya!

This week's Artsy Wednesday theme was pretty open to interpretation- we could create whatever nail art we wanted. However, we had to choose a favorite brand of nail polish and could only use that brand to complete our design. This was an easy choice for me - Zoya! I have more Zoyas than any other brand. I love the formula, the bottle, and the colors of course are always gorgeous. I always look forward to the seasonal collections they release.
For my nail look, I created a simple "Grunge Manicure". To achieve this I painted my nails with a coat of Zoya Elisa, then topped it with a coat of Zoya Julianne. I did a clear coat in between to help protect the first layer. Then, using a q-tip dipped in acetone, I rubbed away some of the top layer, exposing the red underneath. A clear coat on top finished the look. Elisa was a perfect color to choose because you really only need one coat, and for my purposes I only needed one coat of Julianne. So I didn't have a ton of layers taking forever to dry. I usually don't like red with purple but I tried to go out of my comfort zone a bit and I'm happy with the results! The shimmer on Julianne gives the whole thing a nice effect.
I love Grunge manicures, and its fun to experiment with doing them in different colors. What do you think of this manicure? Be sure to check out the favorite brand creations from the other ladies participating in Artsy Wednesday:

Customizable Bath and Body Treats from Glisten & Glow

I recently had the opportunity to try out some products from Glisten and Glow, a wonderful company that makes bath and body products that are ultra-customizable. As you can see in the picture, even the labels are customized with whatever name you like (mine say Beautygnome, of course!). Even better is the scent customization. Customers can choose from a gigantic list of scents to fragrance a wide array of  products from shampoo to cuticle oil. I tried out the body butter (in "Amber"), the hand sanitizer (in "Flowerbomb") and the Glis-tics cuticle oil (in "Hanae Mori").
I was so impressed with the potency of the fragrance. It was so incredibly long lasting! I put the body butter on after showering and I was actually shocked at how long the fragrance lasted throughout the day. Really impressive! The owner of Glisten and Glow, Jill, can even mix two fragrances into a product for you. The level of customization is great, but I really like the formula too. The body butter was creamy and moisturizing but not sticky or greasy.
The cuticle oil is fantastic, too! Aside from the yummy fragrance, it is ultra moisturizing and comes in a very convenient rollerball glass container. It is perfectly purse-sized.. in fact, it has not left my purse since I received it! I love the hand sanitizer, as well. I keep it in my car and I love how nicely scented it is- a welcome departure from traditionally harsh-smelling hand sanitizers.
I think G+G products would make wonderful gifts or stocking stuffers, as you can customize them so throughly. You can check out Glisten and Glow's store/Facebook page at glistenandglow.com . While you're there check out the amazing nail polish topcoat they offer there- HK Girl. It dries super fast and hard and you'll find it topping lots of manicures here on the blog!
Let me know if you scoop anything up!
