November 2012 GLOSSYbox Review - Amazing Yet Again!

Oh Glossybox. You never let me down. Once again, this month's box is amazing. It is chock-full of luxury items, worth so much more than the monthly subscription price.
November's box contains:
Full Size Epionce Restorative Hand Cream
Full Size Illamasqua Eye and Lip Pencil
Deluxe Sample of Skin & Co. Truffle Serum
Deluxe Sample of Arganics Argain Oil Hair Treatment
Full Size Perfumies Solid Perfume Stick

Glossybox always goes way beyond your standard beauty subscription service's offerings. Every month I've subscribed, there is always at least one full size product, if not two or three. The variety is fantastic as well. I love how this month includes makeup, skincare, haircare, and fragrance.
Another excellent box! :)
You can click the picture below to go to Glossybox's website if you'd like to subscribe.

What do you think of this month's box?

Artsy Wednesday: Movember Mustaches!

This week's Artsy Wednesday theme is Movember Mustaches. "Movember" is an initiative to raise awareness about men's health every November (you can find out more at movember.com/). I can't grow a mustache (ok fine maybe a little one) but I can draw mustaches! I drew these with a black Kiss nail art pen, over a base coat of Deborah Lippmann Human Nature.
What do you think of this manicure? I love it! Are any of the men in your life growing mustaches for Movember?
Be sure to check out the mustache manis from the other ladies participating in Artsy Wednesday!

Luxe, Skin-nourishing Makeup from Rae Cosmetics

I have two great face products to show you today, both from Rae Cosmetics. I recently tried out their Surface Primer and Climate Control Mineral Tint, and was so pleased with both of them. I own about a million makeup primers, but Rae's Surface Primer is really in a league of its own. It doesn't have that dry, silicone feel that many other primers have. It goes on a little more liquid, and dries quickly to a smooth, light canvas upon which to apply the rest of your makeup. I love the fact that it has SPF, especially now that it is winter and I (shamefully!) forget to put on sunscreen often. It also has the tiniest bit of iridescence. It gives you a nice, subtle glow without making you look like a disco ball. The moisturizing formula also has antioxidants that nourish your skin. This primer packs quite a punch, I love it!
The Surface Primer pairs perfectly with the Climate Control mineral tint. This product, available in 8 shades, is an excellent foundation. It is water-based and SO LIGHT! It doesn't clog my pores or feel heavy or greasy at all. It covers up imperfections nicely, and also has sunscreen and moisturizers. Its an all-in-one wonder. Very much like a BB cream, but it doesn't white you out or look chalky as BB creams often do. Definitely worth a try if you've been looking for a lightweight, all-in-one foundation/tinted moisturizer. Both the Surface Primer and Mineral Tint can be found at raecosmetics.com
Do you use a primer or tinted moisturizer?

New Polishes from the Never Naked Nail Lacquer Country Collection!

I have two polishes to show you today, both from Never Naked Nail Lacquer.
"Up on Blocks" and "Down on the Creek Bank" are from the upcoming Country Collection, launching in 2013. Both polishes are well suited for layering, as you can see in the above pictures. I've shown them both on their own just so you can get a good idea of what they look like. However, both work best as topcoats. "Up on Blocks" is a clear base with multi glitter in the orange/brown/gold family, and also has some holographic sparkle. "Down on the Creek Bank" does have a bit of tan color to the base, and a healthy dose of shimmer. The black and brown glitter make it quite lovely over a nude polish as shown above.
Both of these glitter polishes applied very nicely, and there was no separation of the polishes or any excessive shaking necessary.
Whats nice about these two is that they are very neutral, which is great! Glitter polishes/topcoats tend to be bright and colorful, and sometimes not very well suited for layering over nude and neutral polishes. These two allow you to add some glitter and sparkle to a manicure while keeping things quite demure! An elegant take on glitter polish :)
I'm looking forward to seeing what Never Naked Nail Lacquer has in store for the launch! You can see their shop (and their beautiful holiday collection!) here

Artsy Wednesday: Jelly Sandwich!

This week's Artsy Wednesday theme was "Jelly Sandwich". A jelly sandwich (in the nail world) is a manicure where you layer a sheer jelly polish over and under a glitter polish. For my manicure, I layered Zoya's teal jelly- Frida, over Zoya Electra (a holographic silver tinsel glitter). I LOVE this look! Very fun and festive. What do you think? Winter Skincare Must-Haves

With the cold weather's arrival here on the East coast, I find my skin requires a little extra TLC these days. I've made a roundup of some of my favorite products for combatting the havoc that dry, cold Winter weather can wreak on skin.

1. Lumene Sensitive Touch SOS Cream:
When your face has a dryness "SOS!", this cream is there to help. It goes on very light, not heavy or sticky at all.. but delivers an intense hydration boost. I love using a little before applying makeup to smooth and hydrate any dry patches.. and I even like it for my elbows and knees!
$19.99- available at Cvs.com

2. Farm House Fresh Whoopie Cream:
I have dry hands to begin with.. now combine that with my frequent hand washing (its cold season!) and dry Winter winds and we have a real problem! FHF's Whoopie Cream is the answer. This ultra-hydrating hand cream delivers great moisture as well as the most scrumptious vanilla scent!
$14.00 - available at Farmhousefreshgoods.com

3. Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel:
Sometimes my skin gets too dry for moisturizer alone to handle- thats where Aristry's Intensive Peel comes in. This gentle but effective treatment removes dead, dry skin and leaves you with a soft, fresh face. A clean slate for the battle against dry skin! It is really incredible how gentle this product is. No redness or irritation.. just very soft, renewed skin! Its a bit of a splurge, for sure.. but lasts a long time and I don't own another product like it!
$101.50 - available at Amway.com

4. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Creme Compact:
I am guilty of forgetting to put on sunscreen in the Winter. I admit it! I love Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer not only for the convenient package and light but thorough coverage- but also because its built-in SPF 20 doesn't let me forget my sunscreen! I also like how non-drying it is, and how you can build the coverage in layers if you want to.
$45.00 - available at Lauramercier.com

5. DHC Velvet Skin Coat
This makeup primer adds another layer of protection to my skin on cold Winter days, and keeps makeup in place perfectly through all sorts of weather! It goes on very smoothly and stays in place all day.
$22.50 - available at DHCSkincare.com

What are your favorite cold weather skincare products? I'd love to hear in the comments below!

Dr.'s Remedy Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Nail Polish Collection

Pink polish fans- take note! In honor of last month's Breast Cancer Awareness theme, Dr.'s Remedy put together this lovely trio of pink polishes. Clockwise from the top, PURITY Pink, HOPEFUL Hot Pink, and NURTURE Nude Pink were sold throughout the month of October with 10% of the proceeds to the Living Beyond Breast Cancer organization. What a lovely gesture from Dr.'s Remedy! I love their polishes because they are paraben-free and made with nail-nourishing ingredients like vitamins, garlic extract, and tea tree oil. The shades are great and the formulas easy to apply. PURITY pink is an excellent nude shade, with a hint of pink shimmer for added dimension. HOPEFUL Hot pink is a classic bubblegum shade, necessary for every polish collection. Finally, PURITY pink is a feminine, "your nails but better" sheer shade, perfect for a french manicure.
What do you think about the BCA collection? You can find it at remedynails.com

The Digit-al Dozen: Music Week Day 4

Time for day four of the Digit-al Dozen's music week! For today's manicure I did records! I painted them over a base of Color Club Blue-Ming using Cult Nails Nevermore (the PERFECT one-coat black). I added black notes and white detail with Kiss nail art pens. Do you ever listen to vinyl records? I still do! I like finding weird ones at tag sales, they are dirt cheap and you can find really good music!

The Digit-al Dozen: Music Week Day 3!

Time for day 3 of the Digit-al Dozen's music week! My manicure today has a "love of music" theme.. in other words: hearts and notes! It is simple but I love it.. I think it came out really cute. I used a base of Andrea's Choice Reverso, Color Club Jackie Oh for the hearts, and a Kiss nail art pen for the notes and black details.
What do you think? Be sure to check out the manicures from the other ladies participating in the Digit-al Dozen!

Artsy Wednesday: Creative Crackle!

This week's Artsy Wednesday challenge was to create a manicure incorporating crackle nail polish. I *hate* crackle nail polish, so this certainly was a challenge for me. I did this simple color block manicure, and I think it actutally looks pretty cute! I started off with a base of Rescue Beauty Lounge 360, then taped off a diagonal section and painted that with Sally Hansen Fractured Foil. I am pleasantly surprised! What do you think? Do you usually like crackle polish?

The Digit-al Dozen Music Week: Day 2

Time for day two of the Digit-al Dozen's music theme week! For today's mani, I did a recreation of Bee's  (from Bee Polished) manicure from yesterday. I really loved the manicure she did.. I thought the idea of the headphone wire running across the nails was super cute! So, I did my own version of that idea. I stared with a base of Zoya Tracie, then drew a little ipod with GOSH blue balloon. The headphones, notes, wire, and detailing were done with my trusty Kiss nail art pen.
Thanks again to Bee for the idea!

P.S- What's on your iPod right now? I've been listening to a lot of early 90's grunge rock!

The Digit-al Dozen: Music Week Day 1

Time for November's Digit-al Dozen theme week! This month's theme is music. For day one, I doodled some cute little cassette tapes. Remember those? I started off with a base of Andrea's Choice Reverso, then I drew the tapes with a black Kiss nail art pen. I added some color with Color Club Jackie Oh, GOSH Blue Balloon, and Zoya Tracie. What do you think?

P.S- The first cassette tape I ever owned was Ace of Base: The Sign. Haha! What was your first tape?
